- So there hasn't been that much news lately, which is probably why there is so much to-do over the Northwest mechanics strike. (You heard about that didn't you?) I'm not going to rehash it, but I will say that this is one of the saddest displays of corporate greed and mismanagement in Minnesota history. Northwest has blatant disregard for the welfare of their employees, not to mention the citizens of Minnesota. Why is it a big deal that they have disregard for Minnesotans? Not simply because they're headquartered here, but because Minnesota taxpayers bailed their ass out the last time they almost went bankrupt. How do they repay that favor? By pushing Minnesotans out of jobs. Pathetic.
- Run for the hills, folks: Minnesota has recorded its first West Nile death of the year. This calls for a trivia question: What's the Minnesota state bird? Submit answers in the comments section...
- The first "debate" (more of a forum, really) between the three main St. Paul mayoral candidates - incumbent Randy Kelly, DFL-endorsed Chris Coleman, and Green Party candidate Elizabeth Dickinson - was held last night and the PeP missed it. It consisted primarily of Coleman and Dickinson saying that more revenue was needed in order to maintain St. Paul's standards, and attacking Kelly's allegiances with high-profile Republicans. Things won't get really interesting until after next month's run-off primary, in which voters will choose two out of the eight candidates.
- In related news, the City Hall Scoop reports that Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) is sponsoring an automated phone poll of abortionistas in St. Paul. Be concerned.
- One more thing about Randy Kelly: He's predicting the Amtrak station will move into the downtown St. Paul Union Depot within two years, and high-speed trains to Milwaukee and Chicago - along with light-rail to Minneapolis - will follow. We'll see...

Piedpieper, I resent your snide comment about our dear great spiritual leader. The ten commandments says "thou shallt not murder", it doesn't say a damn thing about political assasinations. You pinko commy. And what type of a name is Caracas, sounds like some form of perverted behavior. Maybe that is Spanish for Gomorrah, in which case we don't need a stinking assasination because God will make that city burn.

Andy, I couldn’t agree more with you about the NWA strike…further more here are some other wonderful quotes from our spiritual and moral leader Pat Roberts:
